Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) in partership with Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) will be offering a Pre-Healthcare/Nursing. It will be held every Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 19 up to November 16, 2011 at the ATCC. Note: FREE admission will be awarded to the first 20 qualified applicants.

The program is designed to “bridge” the gap between certified nursing assistant (CNA) and licensed practical nursing (LPN) training. This pre-healthcare/nursing course will also help students develop their skills and knowledge essential to succeed in the collegiate academic setting.

Topics to be discussed are the following:

  • medical terminology
  • basic nursing skills
  • job shadowing, reading
  • writing and math for healthcare occupations
  • information on college nursing programs and healthcare career options

Deadline of registration is September 12, 2011. For more details, contact Sandy Schroepfer, Alexandria ABE coordinator, at (320) 762-3312, extension 4281 or sschroep@alexandria.k12.mn.us.
