The Community College of Allegheny County, UPMC and Vibrant Pittsburgh will be offering a free nurse aide training program.
Two information sessions are scheduled this August. The first information session will be held on August 19, 2011 at 9am-12nn at the CCAC-Allegheny Campus, 808 Ridge Avenue, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, while the 2nd free session will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Hill House’s Kaufmann Center.
The full course will run for 28 days.This program will prepare individuals ages 18 to 24 years old for nurse aide positions in UPMC long-term and acute care facilities. Candidate must pass physical examinations, as well as background, drug and alcohol test to be able to qualify for the program. Selection will be based on an interview process. Those who successfully complete the program may interview for positions in the UPMC system.
The Nurse Aide Training partnership is part of CCAC’s Young Adult Empowerment Program, which seeks to provide opportunities for underemployed and undereducated young people to graduate from college and find employment in high-demand, high-priority fields.
